But tonight he showed everyone why he is one of the top players in the league. He had his best game in a Celtics uniform going off for 30 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists leading his team to a 118-109 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. *He was firing from downtown scoring 4/5 from the 3 point line and sinking all ten of his free-throw shots. It wasn't a matter of if but rather a matter of when we would witness a performance like this from Hayward. He played with great confidence and did not hold back. *It was fitting that he had such a performance on the first day of December, the month of giving and with both the Celtics and Timberwolves sporting their dark green and lime green uni's it truly felt like Christmas. And Hayward was giving Boston fans a lot to cheer about. *Hayward's tremendous game came after a practice during the week when teammate Marcus Smart was said to have gotten under Hayward's skin which brought some anger out of Hayward and turned into a near triple-double match. *Hayward became the first Boston Celtics player with at least 30 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in a game coming off the bench since Kevin McHale in 1990. *Hayward also became the first Celtics player in franchise history to record 30+ points, 9+ rebounds and 8+ assists in a single game as a reserve. *Head Coach, Brad Stevens talked about Hayward coming back from injury and asserting himself into the team saying: "this has not been easy for him, and all he's done is grit his teeth and work hard."
